Dedicated to Ending Health Disparities

Our mission is to save lives in Broward County by championing harm reduction initiatives. Committed to breaking down barriers, we focus on delivering practical and accessible harm reduction services in Broward County to address the unique challenges faced by historically underserved communities.

The SPOT’s harm reduction strategies are designed to target and alleviate health disparities in our communities. By fostering a culture of inclusivity and offering crucial resources such as safe syringe exchange programs, this mobile medical unit actively contributes to creating a safer and more equitable community. The SPOT isn’t just a syringe exchange; it is a catalyst for positive change, working to ensure that every individual, irrespective of their background, has access to harm reduction practices and resources that empower them to thrive.

Our Syringe Services Program

The SPOT is the only Syringe Services Program (SSP) approved by the Broward County Commission established under the Infectious Disease Elimination Act (IDEA). We strive to make communities safer and healthier by reducing rates of opioid overdose deaths and new HIV and Hepatitis-C transmissions in Broward County. We provide a compassionate and non-judgmental space designed to meet the unique needs of individuals facing challenges related to substance use and the safe exchange of syringes, reducing the risk of infections and promoting harm reduction.

Beyond syringe exchange, The SPOT is a gateway to free essential resources, including Naloxone (Narcan) overdose reversal medication distribution, health screenings, and crucial connections to support services. At The SPOT, we believe in meeting individuals where they are, offering respect, support, and a path toward better health.
