Ending Health Disparities in Broward County

The SPOT’s mobile medical clinic allows us to reach historically underserved communities in Broward County to provide high-quality and affordable healthcare. It is the only Syringe Services Program (SSP) approved by the Broward County Commission established under the Infectious Disease Elimination Act (IDEA).

Our Syringe Services Program

Broward County has one of the highest rates of opioid overdose deaths and new HIV infections in Florida. In response to these epidemics and to further extend vital health services into the community, Care Resource established The Special Purpose Outreach Team (The SPOT) Mobile Medical Clinic.

The SPOT offers the only designated Syringe Services Program (SSP) in the county, which is key to reducing the transmission of HIV, Hepatitis C (HCV), and other blood-borne diseases.

Dedicated to Ending Health Disparities

As a gateway to integrated care for individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) and primary medical needs, The SPOT adapts to the ever-changing health landscape to provide critical services such as COVID vaccines.

The SPOT focuses on areas of the county that lack ready access to health-quality and a affordable healthcare and support services. It is dedicated to ending health disparities in historically underserved communities.

A Care Resource Program

The SPOT Fund

The SPOT relies largely upon grants and private donations due to the limited and restrictive SSP funding available from the government. Donations to The SPOT Fund offset the cost of new syringes, support educational and outreach materials, and the operations of our mobile clinic.
